There is an irresistible mythos at the heart of Spiritus, arguably among the most classically-inspired of all of Studio Katz’s works, yet also among the most fantastical, otherworldly, technologically complex and pioneering. We see what appears to be a vast, swirling, and blazing pair of celestial wings; Icarus pulled into a whirlpool after his descent, a phoenix caught in the crosswinds of a frozen storm. Elongated to impossible degrees, whipped as if caught on solar winds, its beauty is crossed with a sense of awe and anticipation, and blended with curiosity as to the method of its creation.
